First Look: Nightmare before Christmas & Colourpop collection

            Colourpop has had some amazing collaborations in the past but this new Nightmare Before Christmas collection takes the cake. The collection will consist of one 12-pan eyeshadow palette, a cream eyeshadow trio, three lipsticks, three liquid eyeliners, & one glitter gel. I am focusing on the 12-pan eyeshadow in this post since it is the flagship item that sparked this collection. This palette is composed of six matte shades, one sparkly shade, & five shimmery shades. The colors are as follows: “Zero”, warm white with a metallic sheen; “Meant to Be”, Matte light mushroom with warm undertones; “Dear Friend”, matte mauvey-brown with warm undertones; “In My Bones”, Matte blueish-gray with cool undertones; “Pumpkin Patch”, medium yellowish peach with a metallic finish; “Christmas Town”, bright medium fuchsia with cool undertones & a pearly sheen; “Frog’s Breath”, plumy-brown with a duo-chrome shimmer; “Dr. Finkelstein”, medium blueish-purple with cool undertones with a sparkly finish; “What’s This”, matte bright deep orange with gold micro glitter; “Sandy Claws”, matte dark fuchsia; “Everybody Scream”, matte reddish-berry with cool undertones; & “Halloween Town”, matte cool tone black with pink & teal micro-shimmer. I was able to achieve this by applying multiple layers of toilet paper, unrolled cotton balls, & lots of latex until I got the desired texture I was looking for. After everything dried, I used a heavy-set foundation and face powder to set the prosthetic. Then I used both fresh & scab blood to create a gruesome bleeding & scarred over effect in the openings of the prosthetic. Once all the special effects products were in place, I used my everyday makeup products to produce a “beauty” look on the other side of my face for added contrast.

How to get rid of redness

  (Photo Credit: makeup.com)      One of the most frequent questions I get as a makeup artist is how to combat redness & rosacea. Believe it or not, it is as easy as green. Yes, I said green like the color. When it comes to color correcting it is all about the opposite of whatever color you do not want on your face. When it comes to red you want to color correct with green. I really like using a cream corrector because I think they melt beautifully into the skin but any form with do & if you have oily skin, you might prefer a powder-based color corrector to also provide some shine & oil control.
